Although we previously mentioned Google and YouTube’s learn at home program, we have to highlight Crash Course. This YouTube channel is among the best when it comes to free educational content. As you can guess from its name, it provides crash courses on multiple subjects. Currently, students can find courses on world and European history, Physics, Philosophy, Psychology, Literature, Media Literacy, Astronomy, and many many more.
Khan Academy has partnered with many institutions like NASA, MIT, California Academy of Sciences, and even Pixar, to deliver world class education for free. Khan Academy is also currently offering planned daily schedules for children from preschool to first grade. If you are a parent looking for study online tools for kids in elementary to middle school, you can’t go wrong with Scholastic Learn At Home.

Over the past 5 years that we’ve been homeschooling we’ve come across a variety of great resources. As I’ve been organising my notebooks and consolidating my notes and bookmarks I thought I’d share these free home education resources with you to have in one handy place. If you are looking for educational resources or activities for EYFS, KS1 & KS2 that you can do at home make sure you also check out the subscriptions page. There’s lots of subscriptions, postal resources and apps you might find useful. There are many free and inexpensive homeschool resources available. With some research and planning, it's not difficult for parents to make the most of them and provide a quality home education for free - or almost free.

Take advantage of the Smithsonian's 19 museums, galleries, and research centers and their wealth of material to expand your kids' horizons. Through the Smithsonian Learning Lab, the institution offers images, texts, videos, audio recordings, and learning activities featuring its collection of more than 1 million artifacts. You can curate your own collection and share with your students to match your educational goals. Coursera is yet another online course platform which offers a great variety of educational programs. Founded by two Stanford university professors, the website focuses on higher education and professional training.
From preschool to 13-years and above, there is something for everyone. Content is sourced from great channels like PBS Kids, Sesame Street, Crash Course, and many others. YouTube Learn@Home also has compiled a great list of virtual “field trips” which can be enjoyed in VR or in 360-degree videos. Best of all, it's totally free, which is pretty incredible, given not only the breadth of languages (40+ as of this writing) but also how many success stories we've heard over the years. All videos will be posted on our website and to our YouTube channel shortly after the Facebook Live ends. For older ones at home, Teaching Remotely helps to keep students academically active with 20 days of meaningful learning journeys.

You might remember the BBC Bitesize website from your own school days, and it's still going strong. There's material here for kids of all ages, from reception all the way through to A-levels. It covers every subject your kids are currently studying, and as the name suggests it's all presented in small, easily digestible chunks. With dedicated selections for PreK/Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-5, and Grades 6-9, each day has a selection of articles to read. The website is completely free to use with signup, although donations are encouraged, and it features a large assortment of projects and writing prompts designed for grades 1-12.
